WHO WE ARE

The Arranz-Bravo Foundation is an art foundation that was inaugurated in September 2009 in Hospitalet de Llobregat (Barcelona).

Its headquarters are located in an important cultural hub of the city, which it shares with the Tecla Sala Central Library of Hospitalet, the Tecla Sala Art Centre and the TPK School of Arts.

The Foundation’s activity will initially take place in a building designed by architect Jordi Garcés, before it is finally set up in the old mill of the Tecla Sala factory.

OBJECTIVES OF THE FOUNDATION

1- PRESERVATION AND DISSEMINATION OF THE ARTWORK OF ARRANZ BRAVO

The Foundation possesses a collection of over 300 works of art, including paintings, drawings, prints and sculptures, donated by Eduard Arranz-Bravo. The Foundation is in charge of preserving the collection –which is partially exhibited at the centre– and of promoting it by organising exhibits at the Foundation and at other museums in Catalonia, Spain and abroad.
In addition, the exhibits and activities that we will continue to propose in the future will also aim to disseminate the art and thinking of the generation of the sixties and seventies, taking advantage of the uniqueness of being one of the only institutions in Catalonia dedicated to an artist from this period.

2- PROMOTION OF YOUNG CONTEMPORARY CREATIONS

Another one of the artist’s and the Foundation’s convictions is that the institution should serve as a platform for promoting young artists.

The main areas of work we have proposed include:

Organisation of two temporary exhibitions throughout the year, whether solo or group, involving young artists under 40 years old. A large published catalogue will accompany the exhibition.

Organisation of a leading event in visual arts

Creation of grants to fund stays by artists at major universities in the art capitals of the time (London, New York or Berlin), as well as university scholarships to encourage research on the work of Arranz Bravo and the work of his time.

Moreover, throughout the season, there will be different activities (concerts, presentations and films) in which young creators (including writers, filmmakers, and musicians) will have the opportunity to participate.

3- OUTREACH ACTIVITY

The other focus of the activity conducted by the A-B Foundation is its educational work with schools and social centres, motivated by the conviction that Eduard Arranz Bravo’s art is an excellent excuse for educating and sensitising society about art.

We coordinate free tours with schools designed to educate children of four different ages (kindergarten, primary school, secondary school and high school) and adults.

We also arrange tours for art and design universities and for social associations and centres in the Barcelona metropolitan area.

4- CONNECTION TO THE AREA: HOSPITALET DE LLOBREGAT

Arranz Bravo is an artist who is closely connected to the city of Hospitalet. He is the creator of two of the city’s major monuments: L’Acollidora (on La Rambla de Just Oliveras) and Pont de la Llibertat (at the intersection between Carrer Marina and Avinguda del Carrilet).

The Foundations seeks to strengthen this connection by creating partnerships with associations, libraries, social centres, businesses and artists in Hospitalet.
